Kepala Dinas Komunikasi, Informatika, Statistik dan Persandian (Diskominfotiksan), Suryadi, S.IP., M.M., mengatakan bahwa dalam babak 96 besar tercatat total 16 heat yang di pertandingkan. “Masing-masing heat diisi oleh empat peserta untuk bertanding memperebutkan dua tempat raihan point tertinggi,” ujar Kepala Diskominfotiksan, Suryadi.
Menurut Kepala Diskominfotiksan, Suryadi, berlangsung lomba surfing hari ini didominasi oleh atlet asal Australia, peringkat pertama disetiap heatnya hampir berhasil diduduki oleh atlet Australia.
“Untuk atlet asal Indonesia hanya ada enam atlet yang mampu meloloskan diri ke babak 64 besar, diantaranya Varun Tandjung, Oney Anwar, Bronson Meydi, Westen Hirst, dan I Made Ariyana. Siang ini sedang berlangsung kelas Women’s Qualifying series round of 64, dan Indonesia menurunkan tujuh atlet surfing,” pungkas Kepala Diskominfotiksan, Suryadi.
